I loved so much about this, Erin. I have fond childhood memories of wandering the children's section, getting my first library card, and finding a cozy corner to read in while my brothers looked for books. Even in adulthood, libraries have been a sanctuary for us; often the local library was the first place we would visit after our moves with the military. Even if it took time to make friends, we always had instant access to beloved stories. We lived within walking distance to a library when Josie was a baby, and we were there A LOT. I even worked in a library for a short time at our first duty station, one of my last jobs before having kids. Thanks for your question...it's fun to look back at some of the libraries we've visited over the years.
Thank you, Melissa! I like how you described libraries as a sanctuary and I'm glad to know they have had a special place in your life. It's so cool that you worked in a library! Would you ever go back?
“Like stories, libraries are an antidote to loneliness. They’re one of the few public spaces we have where everyone belongs.” YES! Loved this reelection and your creativity in writing it. And happy second birthday to your beautiful book!
Thank you for this heart warming, inspiring story about libraries and their value. Having been a library user and supporter for many years, your story brought back so many fond memories. Growing up we had visits to the school library once a week, the bookmobile came to our community each week during the summer. When in high school it was a place to meet with friends to study and socialize (quietly of course because shh... was the keyword from the librarians!) while using the resources available for our assignments. Love receiving your missives. May God continue to go with you andyour family.
Thank you so much, Janice! I'm so glad to know the piece brought back happy memories and I appreciate you sharing some with me. God's blessings to you as well 💗
LOVED everything about this piece today, friend! The pictures are so cozy and all of this makes me want to head right over to my library and spend an afternoon. And hug all the librarians! Love the writing prompt too and will be checking out those blueberry muffins!
